PageRank And Subdomain effect on seo

PageRank is on a page-by-page basis.
If a sub domain got high Page Rank, how far it will contribute to the main domain?
PageRank is on a page-by-page basis. The PageRank of a page (on a subdomain or not) is based on the links to it.

PageRank will flow immediately
Sub-Domains are considered as a new site for Search Engines, if a 5 years old site which uses forums.domain.com, www.domain.com now plans to add shop.domain.com and download.domain.com will this take another few years for both new domains to get rank...
Matt Cutts: PageRank is purely at a page level, so if you forums.domain.com has a high PageRank and links to new urls such as download.domain.com, that PageRank will flow immediately.

Domain and Subdom-ain

.and /
Is abc.com/def better or def.abc.com better in terms of Search Engine Positioning?
From a search engine standpoint, both are good - it really is a matter of preference. Depending on what you're trying to do, it may be easier to manage one over the other.

  1. Hi Marty
I am going to create websites www.country.com for all cities so i am confuse how to create them...........
should i use subdomains or sub directories and i also want city wise domain names like www.london.com which is useful for london users to remember..

    Should i use

    1. www.london.com ( a single page which have all links of www.country.com/london/computers or
    2. whole www.london.com/computers)
    3. london.country.com
    4. www.country.com/london

if option 1 will not effect my main website ranking and will improve my ranking then i want to use that but i am too confused about google search.

    Another Question is

if i create many different sites and use relevent data on that and i give give them my main website link for mare informations........................

  6. I have created a website which has multiple subdomains, The main domain is used only to redirect to those subdomains, means to the main domain has very least traffic then the subdomains, but i am confused with page rank, it seems like Subdomains are not affecting pagerank in anyways..

mean to say the traffic comes to main domain is only working for pagerank but not the subdomains...

    Please specify if it's..

else i'll be using maindomain/subfolder, in this way i hope would get the good page rank, as all the traffic comes under main domain?
