Does Google Rewrite Your Title Tags

There are certain situations where Google replace a title in search results as is happening at exampe/question below:

"Google rewriting my Title Tag descriptions on my pages, this has never happened before now and my sites been indexed for at least 5 years. If you look at the title on http://www.animationarena.com/best-animation-schools.html it’s “Best Animation Schools” but when you search in Google the Title shows up as Schools that teach Flash - Best Animation Schools and this page has nothing to do with Flash Animation Schools, Why would google do this? "

And it answered by JohnbMu (Google Employee)

If Google find that the same title is used on a number of pages or if the title is otherwise not that good (eg "Home"). It looks like in this case we chose a weird title.
